Hey Guys!
So either the party has been held and I have not been invited
OR everybody was way too busy to start a party
.Penguin’s 1st Anniversary must have been several weeks ago now, and it’s never too late to start a party thread! So let me raise my glass of champagne first (or that cup of tea on my desk, to be honest) and give a big fat THANK YOU to @saver0
. Hope you’re well and will be in the future!Let’s bring some of our initial energy back to this forum, work on our algorithms and strategies and make them succeed in our trading terminals!
Let’s party now:

Its already been 1 year, how time flies….Congrats, Though If possible I would like to see this forum change into something more easily readable. Too many different topics and not sure where to go to get the most informative trading info, as too many new topics keep on adding. Sorry pls don’t mind me, its still great though. Just some improvements I hope for the future. And maybe we can also have a Skype group. No hard selling of EA & stuff on Skype though, just traders discussing trades or showing how to trade and that will be good, that’s all.
Best Regards,
LearnAlways

A more active chat would be kind of cool. My favorite thing about this site by far is just the community of people that made it. Knowledge seeking traders that can have a healthy discussion :)
I also agree with LearnAlways that the site is a little big atm, we (as a community) are not that active here so we don’t need as many subforums for the time being. Maybe someone can start a thread for a skype group if there’s enough interest?

Ok, convenient party chat here, I like that!
But for real action wouldn’t it be better to place specific suggestions over there http://penguintraders.com/forums/topic/please-provide-suggestions/ ?
For me, personally, a possible restructuring of the forum wouldn’t be a top priority. Ask 6 guys about how the structure of this site should be, and I bet you’ll get at least 7 different opinions
. And please keep in mind: as far as I do know the whole site is being run by one guy alone, @saver0 . He may have more things on his daily schedule.Giving a little more life to our discussions and our developments would be much more important, IMHO.
Cheers, simplex

I wouldn’t put site reconstruction anywhere near the top of my list either, it was just a thought I had about the site in general.
As far as I know Saver does run the site himself and is really busy, hence why he hasn’t posted much here after things settled down a bit after the initial launch.
Giving a little more life to our discussions and our developments would be much more important, IMHO. Cheers, simplexI can’t agree enough
As a background, I think a lot of people are working on very specific things, and at this point the number of “styles” of systems that people are working on is quite vast. It makes it hard to collaborate on specific things, so discussion is kind of lost. I think we (as a very general community that came from FF) achieved a lot inside FF because the topic at hand (transient bars) was a very focused and specific piece of the market. When we, both separately and in groups, discovered that TZs cannot be traded profitably by themselves, the number of expansions and possible applications for the idea began expanding rapidly. This leads to less people begin able to be involved in multiple topics and devote time to them.
IMO, The fact that we’re left to our own devices to come up with and share our findings is really the downside. As much as I like being a part of elite groups, the idea of that is inherently anti-social. It has the correct idea, that those who share a part of the glory should be putting in the work, but it leads a lot of people to not want to share their stuff publicly at the possible cost of people “stealing the money”. Additionally, I’ve noticed that without someone with solid evidence via a trade history or historical calls, others are not willing to follow the path that is suggested, viewing it as a waste of time.
I’ve always been open about what I’m working on and what parts I’m looking to expand on to make my strategy more solid, but it’s very rare to find someone that has an interest, let alone something to contribute.
This is perhaps why I don’t mind a skype group. These groups tend to fall apart rather quickly, but they do offer chances for people to more casually share their trades, which leads to discussion, which leads to thoughts, ideas, and research. At the end of the day, that’s all I can really hope for.

I don’t mind being part of the elite too except no affiliation to any immoral stuff if I’m an elite like the illuminati, lol.
No, I do not mean forming any secret Skype group. fyi, I just joined Bank Order Flow Skype Group, there’s currently like 179 members and 200+members at his webinar. I am talking about a Penguin Traders Skype OPEN group where we can share ideas or teach traders their concept and better our trading and learn new things. I’m not trying to promote his Skype group but I do see an advantage using DOM & BOP, the volume of qty of Bids & Offers & the difference btw the qty of bids & offers seem to suggest price deviating to one side. It seems abit like Currency Strength Indicator, but I Haven’t found the Currency Strength Indicator I like yet. I’m currently using numbers which helps in the short term Strength but its not good enough as there’s no graph line, Graph Line indicator seems to lag in higher TF and slow to change and hang my PC. Too bad the qty of BOP is too fast as in tick, it would be great if there’s a histogram chart to track the history of the tick volume too, becos it changes too fast.
I just want to improve my trading that’s all, sorry been too busy lately with my personal stuff, and not much progress is made…I just hope my learning curve could be way way shorter as years are passing by…
Best Regards,
LearnAlways

I lasted one day in the bank order flow room. So immature I had to leave.
I think this forum would be better if some of the names I see active actually posted something.

Maybe its becos most are actually still learning from FXMD i think. I am still learning myself so i got no comments. Most of the time its just ppl rambling around. I guess its almost the same as any other forums. Ppl get bored. I was actually more interested in getting ideas and discussing more intelluct stuff and things that work. And MM and stuff. Maybe as a start we can improve the chat session over here. I do agree that the successful traders posting more info will help.

I guess I just don’t follow you. We have an open discussion already. If we make it chat all we will do is throw all topics into one room, that people participate in across how many timezones? If we were all on the same exact system and chart that would work great.
What I do is pieces of what I can from the threads here and apply it to my trading style and then offer up what is working and what is not.
I am in a few skype groups of liked minded people, where I can bounce live trade ideas or opinions off of. But any heavy discussion would be kind of distracting during the trading day.

A chat is ok for a short, dedicated workshop, presentation, or similar. For open, medium or long term discussion and develepment, a forum like Penguin is an ideal place to start ideas, collaboration, and hopefully solutions. Here participants from all over the world do not need to synchronize their online times.

Previous posts are perfect example of how “celebrating 1st year anniversary” discussion and thanks to SaverO – :
became a discussion about validity of Order-Flow,
became discussion about participating in a specific Skype group,
became a general discussion about what kind of media/forum/group is the most valuable.
Interesting evolution…
And it started by a post, here, about small “complaint” that the discussion here are scattered…

I don’t know, I just hoped this forum will evolve much better, maybe more open ideas and it would be interesting if there’s a real professional trader guiding us. or someone really profitable sharing how to be successful, something like that. Because I see this forum is actually quite quiet at times, and not much members are actually contributing or at least participating at all. Most are just roaming around. Even the active members start to get inactive, and from the way this is developing, it seems like this forum is going down like the ice-caps and penguins have lesser and lesser room available, just joking, lol. I just hope more development will take place, making the forum more pleasant, that’s all. But I don’t really know, maybe some other guys have better ideas, so pls don’t mind me if that’s the case and excuse my rambling, thanks.

Hey guys,
This was meant to be a ‘Party Thread’, a little online celebration and saying Thank You to Saver – that’s really all I had in mind when starting it.
G is absolutely right: if you’re chatting here about potential ‘enhancements’ of the forum, not providing detailed suggestions in the suggestions thread, then what’s the point of those remarks that the forum is too scattered (BTW: I don’t think so).
You’re scattering the forum yourselves! Maybe it’s caused by happy consumption of beer and wine on this party
