Regarding VZO:

I think you get better entries playing with VZO parameters and range, thus trading just the breakout of the range (i.e. on lower range breakout – signal Long, Upper range breakout – signal short.)

Your method will also work Ok (a bit lagging), without fine-tuning VZO.
