I have subscribed to this Youtube channel. Just need to watch it a few more times to get an idea of what might be happening
August 26, 2015 at 8:15 am in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7733No aggression from me.
I would prefer it if we just stayed on topic and moved the discussions of other techniques and the results from the other techniques to their own thread.
Why clog up a really good thread with legacy ideas when saver0 is doing everything in his power to get us thinking about a single concept.
Also posting pip and $ results without supplying explicit instructions on how we readers are supposed to verify that the techniques are globally achievable and not just by a traders discretion have no merit other than to inflate an ego or distract from the topic.
For a forum thread to have any meaningful life we should all be trading saver0 techniques with his indicators and methods. Helping each other to work out how to implement them and maximize the results.
Otherwise lets just have a thread called Chat and we’ll all just throw up a chart and results and let everyone guess as to how we got there.
August 24, 2015 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7702gg53,
If I wanted to chat with someone like you I would have obviously pm’d you.
I don’t believe you have anything to offer to this conversation that saver0 started , other than to say you feel you are better than all of us.
Well gold star to you, massive pat on the back. 3 cheers to you, hurrah.
The only way I would give a flying fuck about your results is if you were doing what saver0 had stated was the trading plan in post 1. Otherwise you may as well be posting your results on FF in the trading is as easy as abc thread.
If you have the proof that 1 pip compounded could make x% with a 99% probability in the manner and sentiment of this thread then I am interested.
You’re a snide.
You should start you’re own thread , reveal your method and results and then see if the rest of us can repeat your grail like methodology for it to be truly worth something. Or sit in your ivory tower counting your demo account money and frap yourself giddy.

Thank you for your tireless efforts , I can see that generally its a thankless task trying to get us mere mortals in the fx market to understand the probabilties and have an edge.
A massive thank you also for the free stuff you so selflessly give out to your subscribers, as it’s great to be able to not only learn but also practice what you’re teaching with the same tools as you.
As far as other people’s results go especially those that don’t see the benefits in sharing methodology and techniques I don’t see the point in blowing smoke up their arses or inflating an already massive ego.
The internet is a truly great leveller

July 29, 2015 at 10:35 am in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7512i don’t understand what you mean ? but thanks for your help
Add: string sym = Prefix+YourSymbol+Postfix; Comment (MarketInfo(sym, MODE_BID)); To the MQ4 code. It should return a non-zero number. If it returns 0, something is wrong with your prefix/postfix or the way your broker is interpreting it. G.
I think you have confused me with someone who has an mql file

I am attaching the Market Watch screen.
My demo works and I even added a 5th indi to display GBP flow.
The live account is still a mystery and yes, I have tried them Post and Suffix separately, together and with ‘,’ & ‘.’

Thanks for your help, maybe anyone else with a Suffix or Prefix could say how they turned this around .

The demo had no Prefix or Suffix and loaded straight away, so I know that works for all

However, my live account with a Suffix of ‘.’ tries to load and I get 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 in the indi window panel, so its trying its hardest to work but still doesn’t.
If i am missing something obvious i apologize.
I should state that I have tried placing the ‘.’ in both suffix and postfix dialogue box

I also added the tpl to the charts and got a blank, adding the indi separately is okay. So exactly as JHL above.
My live account has a suffix ‘.’ so nothing works on that account.
I used a script to download all the history data for 27 pairs, not sure what else could allow the tpl. you provided to work on my demo.
With the template screen shot you provided I am pretty sure I could copy it, however could you confirm that you placed 4 instances of the indicator on 1 chart and changed the ccy pairs to display the flow.
Thanks

I agree about trading with the trend at extremes is wrong, there is always mean reversion! for counter trend.
however my comment was based on This thread is all about the Randomness of the market.
If we know that we’re at the extremes, the randomness is diminishing, in my opinion.
This reply has been reported for inappropriate content.
What about when Currency 1 is at an extreme and currency 2 is inversely at an extreme
The probabilities of the USD & EUR (see attachment) remaining at these extremes apart is reduced as no 2 currencies diverge forever. They will converge in time.
This is a sign of non randomness, or am I not getting this thread ?
I like the idea of a TP or SL compressing time and potentially reducing or increasing the probabilities. I will regard this thought in my trading going forward.
One of the reasons why I am concentrating my trading on EUR/USD is because its the most manipulated by the banks in the eyes of the retail traders. So there is going to be a tell in the chart which if we can spot, ( i think I have 1 example already) we will be onside with the Clever Money. We will feel the rhythm of a market we’ll be able to instinctively know if we’re placing a TP at the right place. And more importantly for me the SL at the right place. As I need an SL in my trading. I say rhythm because even these last couple of days the EU feels different to last week, traders on holidays, less news etc. etc.
I like this forum, keep up the thought provoking threads

Thanks for posting your myfxbook, awesome job on a real account, I look forward to one day posting mine.
Considering the nature of the strategy I never thought of using an IB to get some pips paid back into the account. Surely that is a good way to compound too, given that the strategy is quite prolific in orders, pips and accuracy.
I’m going to investigate that too
July 13, 2015 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7361Just a quick update as I reached 10% today with no losses so far.
Still trading 3 pips at a time and not trading too much, if i hit nearly 2% i definitely turn the screen off.
I am going to trade this up to 100 trades on the demo account and then try a live one.
July 8, 2015 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7304Here is a link to my test.
3 pip TP ,
Daily ATR based SL (catastrophe SL)
I am closing the trades manually if I do not like the price action after a period of time or if the market changes.
Its a bit slow going as I am only taking a few trades a day, hoping to get to 100 by the end of the month.

July 2, 2015 at 4:13 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7215I’m personally trading this on a brand new demo account, trying to keep everything as real as possible. The only thing that will definitely change when i take it live is slippage, so that is still going to be an unknown. Until I take it live.
I don’t see why anyone would take a margin call but I understand that for testing purposes across thousands of ticks you have to have a method for saying the trade failed. Most discerning traders will wait for higher highs, higher lows for an Uptrend as Saver0 has put in the rules. So if you then see lower highs lower lows, it should be obvious that the trade cycle has changed and if you hold on in hope that higher highs are coming back , well , you’re not a trader.
The thing that I wanted to get across was along these lines and pardon me for using metaphor for my point:
When I watch my 3 year old daughter trying to learn Letters, Words and to Read, I quickly project that her enthusiasm for Letters and Books will lead her to be one of those people that loves Reading for life or maybe she’ll become an Author. The reality is that watching her try and figure out the abstract Letter as being something meaningful and that the repetition we have to do to make it stay lodged in our brain is if nothing else, time consuming. However, she is a little sponge and these things stick and she sees patterns which are becoming words that she can say and read. The next step was writing her name. The novel is a long way off. She has no intention currently of picking up her pen and after writing her name , penning her first edition.
Why is that we Traders, are shown something and expect to make 1000 Pips a month, when it takes 1 pip at a time. Why are we not satisfied with 1 pip, though for this threads purposes I am 1 pip + Spread + 1 pip for luck, I mean slippage :)
For this new account I am going to take 1 pip , following the rules and if the rules each 1 minute candle are met, then great , off we go. If the rules suddenly change, then close the trade. Yes I may make a few closes that would eventually have found the PT but i’d rather be in the game for as long as possible and from the few days testing I have done I see that 99.9% of my trades so far are winners. I closed 1 early which may not have reached PT but I also entered when not all of the rules were being met.
I see the errors of my early days/previous ways, I was taught to be a trend follower and a breakout trader to start with, with the potential of making thousands of pips a year. Risking 1:2 1st PT , getting to BE, allowing the rest to run on. The amount of days and weeks wasted watching my account rise by infinitesimal amounts, or watching it all give back, is soul destroying.
Having a good strategy, picking your entries like a sniper and being happy with a very small pip count with a healthy return fits my personality a lot more. I am more focused on the entry and I am very clear when it comes to the exit. I’ll post a myfxbook link at some point and that will also then be true for the live account, so you and I can see the similarities in profit curve both demo and live.
Good luck all. I’ll post again when I have something to show for the effort.

Day 3
Didn’t do a lot of trading, was busy , tired etc.
However, i spotted a few sweet setups and even got out of a few trades in seconds rather than minutes. More of those please/

I would have been better off by a few pips if i had just waited for PT to be hit instead of my manual closes.
Not sure if this is the holy grail or if I am just being lucky.

Any advice on how to get around the problem of not being able to click Buy or Sell, due to the horizontal lines getting in the way.
On a 1 minute chart, I find it critical to get filled when I click Buy or Sell but so often find that I have clicked a Dotted Horizontal line.
Have you found a way around this ? Or is it possible to have an update where we can turn the Horizontal lines on/off ?
Or do I need to set my charts up differently ?
June 29, 2015 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7137i’d also like to add , that having a PT greater than 3 pips doesn’t make sense to me when trading on the m1 chart. As if most traders put the SL 1-5 pips beyond the previous swing high low and we’re buying/selling into that SL run, we need to get out before all the stops are tripped and they reverse the direction.
June 29, 2015 at 5:55 pm in reply to: Nature of Markets – Power of Probability, Compounding & 1pip #7135i was pointed to this thread by a trader friend, I too have been testing the theory & EA.
These are my days trades on a demo account, there is 1 which was an old order from before the test and 1 which I manually closed.
I experimented with position sizing and PT distance.
For me it only makes sense to have a PT greater than 2 pips, i will probably use 3 for the rest of my test.
