The only thing to ask about the SSBO indicator maybe if there’s a way to get rid of repainting signals, apart from turning EMA filter off, in auto-optimization. Even then, do the signals become non-repainting?

The signals don’t repaint if EMA filter is disabled. Do you have any screenshots of repainting signals?

I only have them when the EMA filter is on. So the answer to your question is no.

OK. now I’ll try to find my sweet spots with EMA filter off.

Thanks for the reply. Best regards… :good:

        Well well well…

What a ride it was. I just finished reading the whole SSBO thread on FF (like I did to Killing Zone some time ago). All 382 pages and the first 8 posts once again.

Dear @forexhard, what an impressive effort…! What a contribution…! :good: All this time the SSBO thread existed in front of my eyes, yet only last Friday have I started reading it. What a misfortune…

I must thank you on behalf of everyone like me (i.e. successful in other branches in life, unsuccessful/permanent learner in FX markets). What a lifesaver…

Also, I find your tone and style pretty much similar to GG53’s, which I don’t mind -even like at some points-. Perhaps it is a very wise thinking to place much importance in RESPECT and CONTRIBUTION. :good: :good:

On top of that, perhaps there are numerous lessons on how to be a successful trader given in SSBO thread. One of them I e-mailed yesterday to my wife is as follows: “..You will know you have “arrived” when trading becomes the most boring thing you do all day. If it’s exciting… if it gives you a rush of adrenaline… if you look forward to it like a new toy… if you brag about it to all your friends… YOU ARE DOING IT ALL WRONG.” How accurate a portrait…

Also there are wise suggestions on how to let go of one’s own ego to be successful trader, which reminded me of the saying of Robert W. Woodruff, a former Coca-Cola CEO: “There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.

Anyways, sorry to keep it this long, but I felt the need to thank you for all of this: the very idea itself and your self-motivated inputs. :good: :good:

I’m planning to make a compilation on your entries from SSBO thread when I get another spare time window (like I did to GG53’s entries in Killing Zone some time ago).

Best regards and look what I’ve done today (see the attachment please).

@xux99, I must repeat my comment in post #6198. The only thing to ask about the SSBO indicator maybe if there’s a way to get rid of repainting signals, apart from turning EMA filter off, in auto-optimization. Even then, do the signals become non-repainting?

Best regards and thank you all to make me put my hands on this MT4 platform once again! :good:   :good:   :good:

          Hello all,

I don’t want to sound discouraging or a smart-ass but I’d spent a lot of time investigating those “patterns” and even read a whole book about this issue. Apart from Doji pattern, I believe, none of them shows anything reliable. Even Doji fails sometimes, however via accompanying Large Volume, a Doji candle may show something.

I really am interested if you found a reasonable interpretation.

Thanks a lot for your efforts.

          Best regards. :good:

              Hi Balrog!

Welcome to the Penguin Quality Assurance Department! Well sorry, I think I should take more time to get rid of outdated code, too many different sub-projects on my disk lately. I just packed an outdated mq4 file in the zip. I deleted the old zip and uploaded a correct one – please download here. Thanks for pointing out the error! s.

              Hello again,

Sorry to be silent long time and step up only in such situations. Perhaps I’m one of those silent 900+ members who keep reading -over and over again some threads-, search for intriguing ideas, try to evaluate and use it once convinced. I think this is a rather small but still valid contribution to this community. This is at least what we can do, the ones that cannot code, cannot trade properly etc. :-)

Again thanks a lot for your and other fellows’ contributions and efforts. :good:

@gg53 pointed out that my MTF Clear Method Candle Indicator behaves strange on timeframe and / or symbol change – thanks for that! Indeed there was a bug in the timeframe management section ( OnInit() ). Please find a bugfixed version attached. Note to the coders: there was no change in the mqh library. s.

                Hi @Simplex,

I got the following error when compiling your latest indicator.

                Thanks for your effort.

                  Thanks Kiads, :good:

                  So lets do the math:

                  On a 1:100 account,

To have a total order amount of 0.1 lots

                  One should allocate $10000

In order not to be affected from adverse price movements.

                  Is that correct?

                    • I believe that there’s no losing positions until you decide to close your floating minus positions, so as long as you have ‘strong margin’ (and this is my main trading key) there’s always probability that your floating minus became floating plus vice versa. The main point is, do you choose to stay at finite side or infinite side of the market. By go Long first, you stay at finite side of the market, on the other side if you go short first then you stay at infinite side of the market that of course more riskier than the other side.
                    • When SNB decide to release their Swiss franc pegged to Euro, we know that there’s huge spike of approximately 2800 pip in minutes, but since at that point my total active trades margin strength could cover 7500 pip range movement until margin called, then my account survived that huge spike, and as you ‘see’ just in approximately 5 weeks USDCHF price reverse and back to normal conditions. By open many trades from many major pairs, actually there some ‘interlocking’ each other positions and that could reduce my total exposure and keep my risk level low.

                    Dear Kiads,

Could we understand from the above statement that you are not using SL. Rather using the whole account as SL?

                    Best regards…

Use the spaghetti indicator on a 4 hour time frame to find a suitable pair that have both got to extreme levels, next bring up your main chart of that pair (with your VZO on) and you will most likely find that the VZO is at extreme levels (if not possibly ignore the trade). Go down to a 1 hour chart or lower depending on your trading style to pin point your entry – video at weekend – get popcorn ready !!! Pip

Looking forward to watch it. Maybe I should refresh your Video thread as well.

Simplex may I have a small request? If you could add a small ROC of DIFF (i.e. DIFF(instantly) – DIFF(close of previous)) and show the result as text on the upper RHS corner of the indicator? This could result in a small miracle. Only -somehow- I can not do it… Best regards and thanks for your efforts once again… :good:

I already suggested exactly that in previous posts. G.

                          Sorry, I cannot see that…

                          See Post #7926 G.

This is a very unnecessary discussion. Why? Because a few months ago you were the one to tell me “better use ROC then Delta Currency Multi Power”. (I couldn’t find the post right now) So, you are the master and I’m in a sense -whether we like it or not- a student of yours. I’ve read a lot of things that you wrote -taught- and internalized your ideas. Now I’m thinking like you. You are the master and I don’t have a problem with that. However, you must acknowledge that other people can think as well. Sorry if I wasn’t polite enough. Regards.

Balrog, It’s me who should ask your forgiveness. I meant to emphasis your request from simplex, but it came out awkward (especialy when reading without the proper intonation). I’m no Guru, Teacher or Mentor and I didn’t want to sound “above” you. Sorry, Balrog. G.

Wow. That’s great humility of yours @GG53.   :good:

I see that and thank you for everything again. You are a very wise person. No hard feelings on my part. Sorry if I offended you because I respect experience at a very high level. And your contributions to the wanna-be-FX-traders are enormous. You are the one who taught us the importance of volume indicators and their predictive nature. Also currency strength etc. You and Kiads are very nice people.

Sorry guys for going off topic again… I hope I’ll come up with some contributions of my own to this thread as well…

                          Thanks G., thanks Simplex…

If you build a Volume indicator – please add MA based on Session avg. (London, London+NY, NY, Asian).

Current session or latest finished session?

MA of current session should start with Previous similiar closed session. i.e. Asian session MA should start with previously closed Asian session MA. G.

@BalrogTrader, please don’t mind if I’m putting this on my B-priority list for the moment. (Maybe somebody else would join in the coding process and provide that feature? :good: ) Our currency strength algorithm is based on ROC of prices, so basically represents the 1st derivative of prices over time. Hence DIFF(ROC) would result in something proportional to the 2nd derivative of CS, the acceleration. It’s a general rule, that mathematical derivation of a line leads to a significantly more turbulent output, while integration, being the opposite method, leads to smoothing. As a momentary workaround, you could come close your suggested 2nd derivative by simply adding a 1nd instance of the indicator, with final smoothing chosen significantly short. Would you be willing to test that? For the moment, I’m trying to focus on improving the basic algorithm by the implementation of a volume weighing, following gg53’s advice. This takes all of my spare time, more or less. Best, J.

Well, no problem my friend. You were very generous and what you’ve provided up to now is more then enough.

Maybe I try to generate some time and do it myself -I’ve written an EA based on ROC of stddev some time ago-.

Anyways, thanks a lot for your efforts and generosity. :good:   :good:

I included my settings window in the pic, so it should be easy for you to reproduce that. The snapshot is taken from my current WIP version, so you won’t find all of its parameters in the published version, but the math is absolutely the same. 1st view comparison (this is not final!) of Gadi_Currencies_Diff v.3.0 (bottom) vs. ASS_Correlator (top) with the settings shown: all major turning points (see 5 dashed vertical lines) occur at exactly the same bars, while ASS_Correlator is a bit smoother. Do you use an adaptive final smoothing in your indi? I can’t tell because I have the ex4 file only. J.

                                            Hi Pip,

The last indicator Advanced_OBV_new looks interesting. Where did you find it?

                                            Best regards…

Very nice. :good: A DIFF line (i.e. Curr1-Curr2) could be quite useful.

For the pair displayed on chart?

Yes, when the “display current pair only (override)” is set to true. This DIFF line is crucial in currency strength analysis.

Best regards and thanks for your efforts! :good:

Thanks a lot Pip. I think I’m heading somewhere… Actually how to draw level lines onto OBV is explained in Killing Zone thread by G. I guess I’ll do something similar to DIFF and OBV2. Have a profitable week. :good:

The “killing Zone” explanation on Gadi_OBV indie is about finding a RANGE (Horizontal Lines) and not TL on Volume. The above is usefull for breakouts and News trading, as well as finding “false” moves (stupid money price action…). G.

How about drawing an “adaptive (or living) channel” on both DIFF and OBV?
