Gents, seriously, this must be the bitchiest thread yet on Penguin …
Dear Roni, mate … I do get the guys getting a bit fed up with you basically asking the same question over and over again whilst dismissing or misunderstanding all the responses. I’ll give you an honest answer in two ticks …
Brother MTH and Master FH … you deserve my respect and I appreciate everything you’ve done for the community and cannot highlight enough how much that is helping me in my own personal efforts to ‘beat’ the market :)
But … lol … the thread for the ‘complete and logic system with strong base knowledge’ is over at FF. This thread here has been created by XUX for the SSBO indicator and Rossbot EA.
Master FH is clearly one of the teachers believing in ‘Suffer you must before you will profit’ or something like
<h2 class=”title” style=”font-weight: normal; margin: 0px 0px 4px; padding: 0px; font-size: 22px; line-height: 1.3; color: #555758; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;”>“If you end your training now — if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did — you will become an agent of evil.”</h2>
Well, he may be right – personally I absolutely believe in shortcuts and always try to use accumulated knowledge and experiences shared by others before I make my own decisions … I wouldn’t be very efficient if I aimed to go through everything they’ve gone through first … if a shortcut works, then why the heck not use it? However, if it doesn’t …Anyway, Roni, here’s a shortcut (and hopefully an answer) for you … no system works with arbitrary numbers … and, IMHO, no system works if you trade it manually. I think the evidence backs me up on this (95% and all that … lol …). SSBO is brilliantly coded and a gem of an indicator for a system devised by Master FH that is still not really precise – if you go through his instructions, you’ll find that everyone draws their boxes differently … and therefore ends up with different results. The coders involved, and especially XUX, did a fantastic job trying to translate the whole idea into something that can be mathematically defined. Still doesn’t work perfectly, and trust me, if it was a perfect system with clearly defined and absolutely logic rules, then it would break purely for the fact that you wouldn’t get your orders fulfilled … millions of robots would do the same thing and bring along a crash from hell …
Here’s what I do, or did – it’s been a while since I used the method … if you input your numbers from SSOB into Rossbot and let it run, you’ll find that eventually it will mess up big time – basically it will consistently take trades in the exact wrong direction. So, I only used Rossbot for relatively short periods and then changed my settings – I run SSOB on one chart and Rossbot on another … When SSOB has optimised itself and I agree with the box size and length, I setup Rossbot accordingly and find that I get good results for maybe something like a day tops, depending on the TF I trade on. As soon as things are starting to go wrong, and they will … I will run SSOB again, draw my own boxes and then restart Rossbot.
Used to work very well, especially with big lotsizes (LOL), but eventually I came up with a system that doesn’t require me to input anything at all – I hate made up stop losses and take profits, I dislike the idea of selecting my own lotsizes and when to trade in which direction and I definitely do not think that a human being is capable of consistently successfully defining how long a consolidation zone has to last before it counts as such or where its high and low are located. It’s always easy to draw your box after the fact, but I think Rossbot proves that there is still too much interpretation required when you try to do this live – which is why it includes the two major money management options, martingale and/or larger targets after losses.
FH and Roni, don’t let anger into your hearts, that’s definitely the path to the dark side :), MTH, you’re fantastic and fun as always :)
Peace
Danny
Oh guys – honestly – in hindsight I realise that my comment has fuelled the argument, rather than stop it. I apologise to forexhard, roni and xux (as our thread host) – that was not my intention.
Roni – forexhard may seem arrogant to you in his replies, but he’s the guy who willingly shared a strategy that worked for him for a flipping long time. He didn’t have to, he could’ve saved himself all that trouble and I wonder if he sometimes wishes he had. An arrogant man does not admit after three(!!!) years that he can’t keep on trying to run a thread that’s so long (due to its success) that no one there bothers to read all of it any more. forexhard trained countless people and he deserves kudos for that, not a generalisation of his personality purely based on a few frustrated comments on a forum.
Forexhard – personally I found Roni’s question valid and I believe that he has read (attentively) the FF thread and this one here. Lately he’s as frustrated as you, which causes both of you to take things personally and turn this thread into an argument neither of you actually wants. And then I came along and made it worse …
Imagine we somehow met each other in a bar. Once we realised that we share a common, albeit completely nuts, interest (trading!!!) – we’d instantly be best mates, have the most brilliant conversations and the night would be fun after all. Neither one of you would perceive the other one as arrogant or ignorant – you’d be happy for the company …
I say we stop the silly stuff, clap each other on the shoulders like men, apologise once more to XUX and get on with the actual topic of the forum.
Have a beer on me, guys – I’d love to take you fishing, calms the soul :)
Kind regards,
Danny
Dear forexhard,
Thank you for your immense efforts explaining your trading method via FF and now here :)
Thank you for opening your original thread and participating in this one. I like your system and I absolutely adore xux’s coding …
However, if your system, SSOB and Rossbot were foolproof, guaranteed winners, ‘you only have to read one article properly’ – well, then this thread would not exist and you wouldn’t have spent three years on FF trying to teach it to us. There’d be one article and then a thread full of ‘thank you’s’ and a lot of brokers would have closed their businesses.
You are here voluntarily, no one here wants to ‘piss you off’ or prove that you’re wrong. You may consider us fools for asking questions, but that is why we’re here. If we don’t all understand your written instructions or get varying results trying to follow them, then that may also be a reflection on how these instructions are given or that the method does not always work.
If you want to describe your legacy by concentrating on 100s of people who sent you pictures of their possessions gained by following your methods, then fine, but bear in mind that there will be many ‘fools’ who will have lost tremendous amounts of money believing that they followed your instructions to the letter. And before you have a go at me, I’m not one of them – I’ve been quite successful with Rossbot :)
There are shortcuts in Forex – the most important lesson is learned faster than it takes to transfer money to your broker – it is much easier to lose all your money than it is to make some or, more importantly, make back your losses.
The second lesson is also learned very quickly – if you’re not a complete fool – do not believe in ‘foolproof’ systems, be they based on technical analysis or purely money management or whatever else. The only consistent method to earn money with Forex is this – become a broker or work for one, limit the leverage for successful traders and raise it super high for idiots, you’ll have the spread, the money and the market makers behind you will even change laws to make sure that they get every last penny from retail traders.
Of course you can participate in the market and even make a fortune, but not without taking risks, most of which are likely to backfire on you. Following a system to the letter, even SSOB, is not going to make you rich if you keep your money in your trading account and try to martingale your way into the record books.
forexhard, if you post in forums with a method you believe in, the most likely outcome is that you will be more often contacted by people who do not understand or are not successful with your strategy than by the ones who make money. So, whilst angrily telling the less fortunate ones to re-read your instructions 10 times … 20 times … 100 times, please count to just 10 and then don’t assume us liars – it’s never a good idea to insult the poor sods who respect you so much that they are asking you for help you offered in the first place. Isn’t that why we’re all here – to help each other?
None of this is meant to offend you, I sincerely hope this comes across properly :)
Kind regards,
Danny
PS: My only claim to a legacy is that I have prevented masses of friends from ruining themselves by trading – I’ve shown them honestly how the market works (or doesn’t work for them), have tried not to make unrealistic claims and have never been arrogant enough to believe that I have a 100% amazing system that I have to tell everyone about (I don’t have such a system …) – and all of that despite the fact that I’m actually quite (and quietly) successful for 3 years now :) … hope this counts
hi xux99,
thank you very much for coding rossbot – I love it :)
however, for some reason I don’t seem to be able to backtest anymore. I’ve changed the autogmtoffset to false, but that didn’t work.
the journal gives me no error messages and rossi works brilliantly on my demo and live accounts. can the latest rossbit still be backtested?
thank you :)
